Who is Tatu and what’s up with their name

I think that there are a few interesting things about the name of the awesome group tatu. First of all, it’s an interesting approach to go with initials and have periods in a name. That makes it visually more interesting and set apart from other standard band or group names.

The next part of the play on words is cute as it is similar to the word tattoo which usually stands for a culturally expression of uniqueness. And the uniqueness is something that is appealing about t.a.T.u that Americans and people all over the world as they find themselves drawn to the non-conformist method of expression. Both through their enjoyment of the music, the independent style and approach to life as well as also the sex appeal and craziness.

And after a deeper review of their name and its’ more subtle meanings, the word ‘two’ seems to pop out and since it’s a duo they really can build on that. Just by saying their name tatu you’ve said a mouth full and that from 4 simple letters.

The Russian Music sensation Tatu or often labeled as t.a.t.u. has certainly taken advantage of the internet and the ease of promoting online to gain notoriety and fame across the globe as they take the music traditional music scene on on a not so traditional way.

Featuring stunning girls is a great start for any group and when you add the mystique of a foreign band that most people find intriguing and fascinating you end up with a non traditional sensation that reaches far beyond the normal scope and expectations.

t.A.T.u. (in Russian: Тату́ and is pronounced [tɐˈtu]) This duo team was first put together in Moscow Russia in 1999. The group members are Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova. Tatu is known all over the world and they are clearly the best and most successful Russian band to date.

Their debut single “Ya Soshla S Uma”, which in Russian means “All The Things She Said”, was revealed in December of 2000. Overnight It was a big hit sensation in both Russia well as many parts of Europe. The album’s focus song “All The Things She Said” was on the number one spot in the UK Singles Chart for 4 weeks in a row, and reached the top of the charts internationally. Then in October 2005, they got to showcase the release of their second album, Dangerous and Moving, and its Russian version, Lyudi Invalidy, which became platinum in Russia. In late 2006, the girls released a Best Of compilation, and then ventured on their own after negotiating out of their contract with Universal Music.

The third Russian studio album, Vesyolye Ulybki, was released in October 2008 in Russia, and its English counterpart,Waste Management, in December 2009 digitally around the world.
